A Little About Us...

Shelby Strandemo

Born and raised in the Chicagoland area of Lake County, Illinois, I became a Certified Personal Trainer back in 2016 and made the move with my husband to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2017. Prior to becoming a trainer, I competed in Muay Thai and Kickboxing between the years of 2014-2016 and have integrated that experience into my training services. I prioritize creating a strong foundation for my clients through Strength and Conditioning, but I also love teaching Boxing and Kickboxing. I have trained in Muay Thai and Kickboxing on and off for nearly 15 years and have spent the majority of that time coaching others in a way that I had always wished to be coached. Although I do not compete or train as often in Kickboxing, I have found a different avenue to scratch my competitive itch through Jiu-Jitsu and have trained in it since 2019 with my husband.

My background in martial arts has always been enhanced through a more functional approach to strength training to help improve my lifestyle, which is why I chose a career path that helps others in the same way. No matter if you have a prior athletic background or if you are tackling your fitness goals for the very first time, I believe my sole purpose as a proud female personal trainer is to help others navigate through the intimidating aspects of wherever they are and help them figure out a program that assists their goals and lifestyle. I know what it feels like to go about it alone; helping people remove the guesswork and feel prepared for whatever they want to achieve is my life's work. I have honed my craft over the years being the best personal trainer I can be and have experience working with anyone from 5 years old to even 90 plus years old. I also have experience working with people who have Parkinson's disease, Down Syndrome, and Autism.

No matter what your obstacle in life is, I know that I can help you feel prepared for whatever avenue you decide to take to become the fittest and healthiest version of yourself.

I always knew I wanted to be some form of a teacher growing up. It wasn't until I injured my spine wrestling for my high school that I got the first glimpse of what my career would be. During my injury I got the chance to help run practices, lead workouts and coach our team. I haven't stopped coaching in some form or facet ever since. After the herniated disc and a twice torn shoulder, and rehabbing from those injuries, I knew what I wanted to do. I know what health and fitness did for a young kid like myself and I thought if I could provide that same experience for just one person as a career, it would be a job worth doing. I got certified through A.C.E. right out of high school and being a personal trainer/coach has been all I've done ever since while gaining certifications in nutrition, corrective exercise, mobility, and countless continuing education along the way.

Over the years, I've trained people with a variety of goals. One has added 100s of pounds to his favorite lifts. Another just wanted to be able to ditch his cane and confidently walk up a flight of stairs. My first real client here in Fort Collins, she lost over 95 pounds! Over the course of many hours spent working with people, my clients and I have found a fantastic way to go about spending time in the gym. If you get the body moving correctly and pursue being as pain/injury free as possible, whatever your goals you have set for yourself just seem to come as a byproduct. Weight loss becomes easier. You get strong quick. Aches, pains, and stiffness go away. Mental health improves...but why? Because going to the gym becomes something you look forward to. You leave feeling better than you did when you walked in and that feeling transfers to your everyday life. I train my 1 on 1 clients and group fitness classes always with this is mind.

I look forward to continuing my career down this path of truly helping others. Whether it's for a paid service or not, feel free to reach out!
